Kinderlesung: Wir sind die Tiere des Waldes

Mona van Schingen-Khan is a zoologist, a passionate conservationist and a native of Cologne. She has been working at the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation for eight years as team leader of the German CITES Scientific Authority for Animals. In her reading from the new children's books "Wir sind die Tiere dieser Welt/ des Waldes" by author Mathias Siebel, to which she made a technical contribution, she introduces young listeners to exciting animals from all over the world - from eels to crocodile lizards, a real "living fossil" that she herself researched for her doctoral thesis in the Vietnamese rainforest. With specialist knowledge, hands-on exhibits and a lot of heart, Mona explains to children why animals are so worth protecting. Species conservation starts at an early age.

Dr. Mona van Schingen-Khan will be reading from the books "We are the animals of this world" and "We are the animals of the forest"on Saturday, 6 September 2025, at 5 p.m. as part of the eLk Festival on Ottmar-Pohl-Platz. For children aged 5 and over and everyone who loves animals!
