A Turkish-Kurdish-German song recital - guest performance by Tontalente e.V.

We all grow up with the stories of our parents and grandparents - and write our own in the process. The music that accompanies us is the soundtrack of our lives. But post-migrant stories are often told from the outside: by people who think they know them. The realities of their lives, their diverse dreams and thoughts remain unheard.
"Leyla - Songs and Stories of Us" brings these unheard voices to the stage. A Turkish-Kurdish-German ensemble presents songs that shape their lives - from Turkish folk music and Kurdish folklore to German pop. They reflect generations, cultures and individual life paths. Sometimes similar, sometimes contradictory and always beyond clichés and the same narrative.
The artists share their thoughts on the major themes of their lives: What does it mean to come from different worlds? Who decides who we are allowed to be? And what happens when we are allowed to be everything? What does origin mean - and what does freedom mean?
Singing, moving texts and choreographed dance elements merge on stage. The ensemble is accompanied by a band with violin, bass, drums, percussion, accordion and guitar. The result is a song recital that is now returning to the stages of northern Germany after its successful premiere in 2025.
