Frederick und die Farben

In the organizer's words:

A children's concert - guest performance

Generations of children have got to know Leo Lionni's Frederick, the little idle mouse who collects colors instead of edible winter supplies. Much to the displeasure of the other mice. But in the dreary winter, they realize the great value of this idleness:
"So when winter came and the first snow fell, the five little field mice retreated to their hiding place among the stones. At first there was still plenty to eat, and the mice told each other stories about singing foxes and dancing cats. The mouse family was very happy!
But little by little, all the nuts and berries were eaten, the straw was gone and they could hardly remember any grains. It was suddenly very cold between the stones of the old wall and no one wanted to talk.
Then they suddenly remembered how Frederick had talked about sunbeams, colors and words. "Frederick!" they shouted, "how are your supplies?"
"Close your eyes," said Frederick and climbed onto a large stone. And when he told them about blue cornflowers and red poppies in the yellow cornfield and green leaves on the berry bush, they saw the colors as clearly as if they had been painted on their little mouse heads."

Frederick shows the other mice the colors he has collected and the warm rays of sunlight he has captured for them. He tells them stories with the words he has collected and helps them get through the many long winter days.
This is exactly the scene we find ourselves in at the children's concert "Frederick and the Colors": in a colorful world in which small children between the ages of two and five can experience music for the first time.

The "Ensemble Frederick" of trumpeter Michel Schroeder will be our guest for two performances in May and will bring the children's book classic to the stage for children aged 2 and over.
