Linien, Bögen und Gesten - Sergio Femar, Heike Weber, Douglas Witmer - Group Show

The works of Sergio Femar (*1990 in Galicia, Spain, lives and works there) are reminiscent of the refined use of materials of Arte Povera, but he shows a new way of approaching it through the different cuts in the wood. Pieces of this material are painted, sprayed and assembled to create unique and serene reflections.
"My work stands between the calm of the studio and the frenetic pace of contemporary culture and its transience. It takes the vandal act to a mature reflection, in other words, it brings back the joys of creation without feeling constrained by academic pressure, using risk as a unifying element between vertigo and serenity.

The spatial sculptures by Heike Weber (*1971 in Nürtingen, lives and works in Cologne) develop their own formal language through the way in which the connections are made, displaying a complexity and three-dimensionality; they fit into the space with an unobtrusive lightness, forming a space of their own. By connecting individual arches, new objects with interior spaces are created. The sculptures grow into a new whole as they are worked on. Interior spaces are created by connecting arches, these become tangible and give the form a surrounding space and its own aura. Heike Weber plays with form and space in an irritatingly calming way.

For over two decades, Douglas Witmer (*1971 in Winchester, Virginia, lives and works in Philadelphia) has continuously and subjectively explored the materiality of the painted object, gradually refining his work within the framework of reductive abstract painting. His elemental compositional structures are activated by sensual colors and variously improvised gestural and accidental actions. His lasting interest is to create a visual place that invites personal visual and sensory experiences in an open way.
