Three outstanding voices from the European improvisation scene come together on this evening: Luís Lopes (guitar), Reza Askari (double bass) and Vasco Furtado (drums). Together they create a multi-layered sound space between energy, abstraction and intuition - beyond stylistic boundaries and far from any routine.

Portuguese guitarist Luís Lopes has been one of the most influential figures on the international free and avant-garde jazz scene for many years. With projects such as the Humanization 4tet, the Lisbon Berlin Trio and his large-scale ensembles Lisbon Freedom Unit and Abyss Mirrors, he has established himself as an uncompromisingly independent voice. Lopes combines raw energy, feedback and distortion with a radical openness to sound and structure. His music is at once introspective, expressive and full of tension - a play between silence and explosion.

Reza Askari, born in Fulda in 1986, is one of the most distinguished bassists on the German jazz scene. After studying in Cologne and Essen, both of which he completed with distinction, he worked with artists such as Lee Konitz, Marc Ducret, Christopher Dell, Hayden Chisholm and John Hollenbeck. With his trio ROAR and numerous other projects, Askari combines improvisational freedom with compositional precision and deep roots in jazz, punk and contemporary music.

Vasco Furtado, a Portuguese drummer who lives in Cologne, first studied jazz at the University of Music in Lisbon and then completed a master's degree at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. He is a co-founder of the Phonogram Unit label and a formative figure in the young improvisation scene in Portugal and Germany. His playing style combines structure and spontaneity, power and sensitivity - always with an open ear for the unpredictable.

This trio line-up brings together three musicians who explore the spirit of improvisation in all its breadth: raw, direct, poetic, intense. Music that reinvents itself at every moment - unpredictable and lively.
