20 years of LU:V - anniversary concert with animated films set to live music

For two decades, the Leipzig band LU:V (winners of the Leipzig Jazz Young Talent Award, among others) has been inspiring audiences with its special combination of music and film.To celebrate their 20th anniversary, the trio invites you to an extraordinary concert evening on December 13:LU:V will set a selection of their most beautiful puppet animation and cartoon films from the programs "LONGING" and "MÄRCHENHAFT" to music live - including rarely shown treasures from the archive of the DEFA animation studio.

With a keen instinct, playfulness and a pinch of humor, the musicians create their very own world of sound that goes far beyond classical film music.In collaboration with the German Institute for Animated Film and the DEFA Foundation, LU:V's MÄRCHENHAFT program is dedicated above all to the poetic and experimental works of director Kurt Weiler.

The LONGING program focuses on the desire for a different world and a different state. On an exciting journey through various animation techniques, DEFA classics meet contemporary short films by young animation artists.Between dream and reality, the characters - on the screen and in the music - fight for their wishes, dreams and ideals.

Whether houses made of vegetables, flaming abysses or surreal fantasies - each film opens a new window into a dream world of its own.LU:V accompanies these stories live, allowing image and sound to merge into a unique experience.
