German title: MIT LIEBE UND CHANSONS
Paris in the 1960s: Esther Perez gives birth to her sixth child, little Roland. He is born with a deformity in his foot and the doctors are certain that Roland will never walk properly. But Esther is a strong and stubborn woman who follows her head and, above all, her heart. Against all advice, she promises Roland that he will walk to school on his first day like all the other children. With unwavering optimism, she constantly develops new strategies to ensure that her son is happy enough to stand on his own two feet. Even when the good Lord has to play a role and her extended Jewish family is condemned to listen to the salutary sounds of French chansons for months on end.
Paris, 1963: Esther meets Roland, petit dernier d'une famille nombreuse. Roland is born with a pied-bot that prevents him from being able to walk. Contrary to everyone's opinion, she promises her son that he will marry and have a fabulous life. From then on, Esther does everything in her power to keep this promise. Le film de Ken Scott est le récit d'une histoire vraie, drôle et bouleversante, celle d'un destin incroyable et du plus grand amour qui soit : celui d'une mère pour son enfant.
