Spurred on by the equally promising and mysterious prophecies of three witches and guided by the whispers of his lady, the ambitious warrior Macbeth paves his way to the throne. He is prepared to walk over dead bodies to do so: He cruelly murders Duncan, King of Scots, in his sleep. But his dream of power is short-lived. Tormented by feelings of guilt and delusions, Macbeth becomes entangled in a web of intrigue and betrayal. Even more terrible murders follow, but no crime, no matter how great, can save the self-proclaimed king from the abyss of his own soul.
"Macbeth", one of Shakespeare's last great tragedies, is perhaps his darkest play: the individual's belief in his own agency, in reality and truth is deeply shaken here. Sinister forces are at work in every single person, are repeated in history, are found in social structures as well as in images, fantasies and stories.
In his production, director Evgeny Titov gives shape to evil and questions the irrational that lies within each of us. A look into the depths of the psyche. Fear determines this view - a fear that even the greatest tyrant cannot overcome. The role of Macbeth is played by André Kaczmarczyk, that of Lady Manuela Alphons.
