Macbeth has already achieved a great deal. But after a sinister encounter, his greed for more awakens. Driven by his no less ambitious wife, he commits a murder that leads to further atrocities... Who are we, who do we want to be? What can the greed for ever more power, wealth and a socially elevated position drive us humans to? Verdi's "Macbeth" shows how world politics is reflected in the private sphere.
