What it's all about

On May 24, Cologne-Mülheim will be the scene of Mad Pride Cologne - a colorful, loud and powerful demonstration for the rights, visibility and social participation of people with psychiatric experience and disabilities. From Wiener Platz to Schauspiel Köln, we will march through the streets together, accompanied by speeches that focus on solidarity, inclusion and the diverse realities of life in different communities.

That's why you have to come

New year, new place: On the occasion of our anniversary weekend at the Depot of the Schauspiel in Cologne-Mülheim, the MAD PRIDE demo will also take place in Mülheim for the first time. Accompanied by the art orchestra Kwaggawerk and the percussion group Mama Afrika, we will demonstrate along Mülheimer Freiheit via Keupstraße to Schauspiel Köln, covering a barrier-free distance of 1.6 kilometers. For those who are unable to walk the route, we will have rickshaws with us.

Afterwards, the BIG BÄÄM will continue with a varied program on an open-air stage in front of the theatre. You can expect speeches by Raúl Krauthausen, among others, as well as music by Tobias Leifeld and ELENN, the ESG choir Cologne and VAVUNETTHA.

03.05. - Day of action

Together with the artist Amie Savage, this year's MAD PRIDE starts on May 3rd: In a workshop , posters and banners will be designed that will be used on May 24th. The mouth painter Amie Savage will support the participants in artistically realizing their demands, stories and goals. The workshop will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Great Forum of the Alte Feuerwache.

The rooms in which the day of action will take place on 03.05 are barrier-free. There is a wheelchair-accessible toilet on site. There is a tactile guidance system to all entrances in the courtyard.

Information on the accessibility of the MAD PRIDE

The Mad Pride route is approx. 1.6 km long and barrier-free. There will be a break along the way at an accessible square with wheelchair-accessible toilets.

If required, rickshaws are available for the duration of the demonstration. Please register for this with Julia (julia.maedrich@sommerblut.de).

Guide dogs and assistance dogs are very welcome.

The speeches during Mad Pride on May 24 will be interpreted from German spoken language into German Sign Language (DGS) and from Hard Language into Easy Language . Please register in advance for the interpretation into easy language.

You can bring your own headphones to use the interpretation into easy language. The connection works via a simple mini-jack plug.

Please let us know if you would like to be picked up from the nearest bus or train stop and accompanied to the venue.
