They are the link between the international press and the Ukrainian population: the so-called fixers. They organize trips, know the cultural codes, assess dangerous situations, interpret conversations and arrange contacts with people in the war zone. But what drives them to keep accepting new assignments despite their constant "frontline experience"?
The play is based on a research trip to Ukraine and interviews with fixers and journalists. There is a special relationship between them - characterized by trust, but also by different perspectives on the creation and presentation of stories. This is currently particularly evident in the USA, where a family is suing the television station Fox News after their daughter, who was accompanying the reporting team as a fixer, was killed in a Russian missile attack.
Futur3 is dedicated to an often invisible professional field within war reporting - based on real-life reports. The focus is on questions of work ethic, safety, appreciation and post-colonial structures.
With surtitles in Ukrainian and English.
