Ludwig Blochberger approaches the popular, indomitable actor and singer in all his facets and creates an unusual, exciting and touching portrait in the mirror of his time. Accompanied by the jazz musicians of the Goin' Out West Quintet, he sings some of the most beautiful songs and classics from Krug's repertoire and invites us to rediscover his texts and songs and carry them forward into the present.

Manfred Krug (1937-2016): With his unconventional manner and inimitable charm, the Duisburg-born actor, singer and entertainer thrilled an audience of millions and became a DEFA star in the 1960s and 70s. With films such as "Spur der Steine" - initially banned because of its system-critical tone and later a cult hit - he shaped an entire generation. At the same time, he conquered the stages as a singer with a distinctive voice and laconic wit, with his own jazz and chanson lyrics. After leaving for West Germany, he made an impressive comeback: series such as "Liebling Kreuzberg", "Auf Achse" and "Tatort" finally made him a favorite with audiences throughout Germany.

Ludwig Blochberger, born in East Berlin in 1982, has been performing on stage since childhood. Musically influenced by the Dresden Kreuzchor and the Vienna Boys' Choir, he played alongside Armin Mueller-Stahl in the TV event "Die Manns - Ein Jahrhundertroman" as a teenager. After studying at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts, he appeared in the Oscar-winning film "The Lives of Others", among others. He is known to a wider audience from the crime series "Der Alte" and "Kommissar Dupin". He has repeatedly played important historical figures such as former German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt. As a singing actor, he pursues his great passion: music.
