You hear her once - and you never forget her. Marla Moya sings with raw warmth and clear emotionality. Her songs are honest, unpretentious and carry a quiet intensity - timeless and contemporary at the same time. Her music is reminiscent of greats such as Fleetwood Mac or Harry Nilsson, but also of today's indie greats such as Angel Olsen or Weyes Blood. In recent years, Marla has toured the world with her former partner as "Marla & David Celia" - with over 1,000 concerts, including appearances at the Glastonbury Festival, the Mariposa Folk Festival and BBC sessions. Now a new chapter is beginning: under the name Marla Moya, she is releasing her debut album Sanguine Soul via Backseat in November, produced by her childhood idol Robert Francis in Los Angeles.

At her side: exceptional musicians such as Joachim Cooder(Buena Vista Social Club) and Doug Pettibone (Tracy Chapman, Keith Richards, among others). Recorded live and without clicking on tape - a deliberate break with perfection in favor of feeling, air, life. The songs tell of upheaval, self-discovery, fear and hope - of a young woman reinventing herself. "Even if it doesn't feel like a classic collection of love songs to me," says Marla, "there's a faint hint of it running through almost every track. But that makes sense - at the end of the day, life is all about love."

Betweenlight and shadow, wanderlust and homecoming, the desire to be seen and the strength to be enough for oneself. Marla Moya's songs are intimate and expansive at the same time - they open up spaces without ever losing their grounding. In the end, you never know for sure: is that a laugh or a cry? Probably both. And that's exactly why it stays.
