They were both 24 when they met, the poet and the philosopher, and made their covenant for tolerance and mutual respect, which they courageously and unwaveringly upheld in times of anti-Semitism, the authoritarian state and censorship. Lessing's drama "Nathan the Wise" was intellectually explosive 250 years ago - and remains so to this day. Just like Moses Mendelssohn's political-philosophical book "Jerusalem" about state and religion with its passionate call to all rulers for equal rights and peaceful attitudes. - An intense chamber play for three voices.
