In 2025, Max and Moritz, probably the two most famous rascals in German literary history, will be 160 years old. But what relevance do they have in the present day? At a time when world history is dominated more than ever by strange fiends, it is important to find out what significance anarchistic pranks and childlike resistance have in a society geared towards strict functionality and profit optimization. Didn't the two of them end up paying for their planned mischief with their lives? Or is it not precisely the lived mischief and the resistant energy that keeps the children in us for a lifetime - and makes them lovable in the first place? And isn't it precisely this disobedience that ultimately saves our democracy?
At the "Macht Worte!" poetry slam accompanying the exhibition "BÖSE?! Resistance and crime - 160 years of Max and Moritz!", five live poets dedicate the first part to the topic of "Max and Moritz - of nonsense and disobedience". They make a literary plea for the living child in all of us and the little bit of resistance that we should retain throughout our lives in order to keep our society as colorful and special as it is. In the second round after the interval, the ensemble finally gives a fast-paced insight into its best stage texts. The audience decides who wins in the end. The evening will be hosted by Jörg Smotlacha and Henning Chadde.
An event organized by Kulturkompliz*innen Kulturzentrum Faust and Museum Wilhelm Busch in cooperation with "Macht Worte!" - the Hanoverian Poetry Slam, sponsored by the Bürgerstiftung Hannover.
