Michael Krüger "Among poets"
Moderation: Thorsten Ahrend
Michael Krüger, certainly the most important publisher in this country after Siegfried Unseld's death, but also a translator, editor and, above all, a poet himself, has spent his entire life with poets: he published their works with Hanser and elsewhere, published them in the magazine Akzente, which he edited for three decades, and awarded them the Petrarca Prize, which he founded together with Nicolas Born, Bazon Brock, Hubert Burda and Peter Handke. Above all, however, he was - to many of them, and they to him - a friend. Michael Krüger has introduced countless readings and given hundreds of eulogies, he has traveled with the poets - and time and again he has had to hold obituaries for them.
Two years ago, on the occasion of his 80th birthday, Suhrkamp Verlag published Michael Krüger's memoirs "Verabredung mit Dichtern", which he also presented impressively at the Literaturhaus Leipzig. An almost overflowing book of memories full of great stories. One could almost expect a sequel to this book. And indeed, it will be published at the end of September. We are delighted that Michael Krüger is coming to Leipzig again, even just a few days before the official first day of sales.
