MIRA / Julia Riera - Climb a mountain

In the organizer's words:

MIRA / Julia Riera - Climb a Mountain

A choreographic exploration of disorientation and change

"Perhaps the only certainty we have is that everything remains in motion."

With the performance Climb a Mountain, Julia Riera and her company MIRA embark on a search for orientation in a world that is constantly changing. Inspired by fragments by Daniel Schreiber and Paul Auster, the piece asks how we face the loss of certainties - and what can arise when we find ourselves in uncertainty. The stage becomes a space of experience in which uncertainty does not appear as a lack, but as an opportunity for new perspectives.

At the center is an artistic figure, embodied by Joy Kammin, who navigates through a landscape that is constantly changing. Fragmented movements, sudden changes of direction and moments of stillness make it possible to physically experience what disorientation feels like - and what openings it offers at the same time.

Language, sound and light interweave to create a multi-layered choreography that invites the audience to discover the creative potential of uncertainty. Climb a Mountain is a quiet reflection on being lost - and on the power of sensing new paths in change.

COMPAGNIE

Since 2009, Julia Riera has been developing interdisciplinary stage and site-specific performances with MIRA that combine social phenomena with central human questions. Her works are characterized by a sensitive, intense body language and a duality between beauty and rupture. Riera regularly collaborates with artists from other disciplines and thus continuously expands the boundaries of dance.
