Welcome to Moovy!

Welcome to the 9th edition of the Moovy Dance Film Festival!

I am delighted to welcome you to this year's Moovy Dance Film Festival! In our ninth edition, we will be showing a diverse and inspiring program over 17 festival days - at various locations in Cologne, a city that has always lived and been shaped by dance.

Dance film has a long tradition in Cologne. This year, too, we have received over 1,000 submissions from all over the world. We are presenting a curated selection from this impressive diversity at the Filmforum NRW and the Rautenstrauch-Joest Museum. I am particularly pleased about a series of poetic dance films that combine dance with poetry and language in a special way.

This year, Moovy brings dance directly into your everyday life: you can discover dance films on your cell phone in many places in Cologne - exactly where they were filmed.

Digital technologies are increasingly shaping our artistic work. New formats are emerging, new perspectives are opening up. In the TanzFaktur
to experience immersive choreographies for virtual and augmented reality - a journey into new dimensions of dance.

But all these developments are also accompanied by questions: How do we shape the future of art and culture in the digital age? At the symposium + hackathon at the German Dance Archive, we want to collect and discuss ideas and develop strategies together. The symposium will be opened by Audrey Tang, the former Digital Minister of Taiwan. Join us and get involved!
