Cast off: The MS experimenta goes on tour again

Hands-on stations, exciting films and workshops for experimenting: The MS experimenta combines fun and knowledge for the whole family. From June 10 to November 4, the ship from Germany's largest science center - the experimenta in Heilbronn - will be going on tour this year, calling at 20 locations in Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse.

Along the Neckar and Rhine rivers: on its 2026 tour, the MS experimenta will cover hundreds of kilometers and provide astonished faces and aha moments. Visitors can playfully immerse themselves in the world of science at 20 locations on board.

Discover, marvel and understand: Hands-on fun on board
On the MS experimenta, young and old alike can get to the bottom of exciting everyday questions. And it never gets boring! An exhibition with around 20 hands-on stations, workshops and craft activities as well as films under the 360-degree dome of the Mini Dome provide plenty of variety.

The exhibition is divided into two sections: In the "You are science" section, guests will learn amazing things about humans, their development and their special abilities. How did modern man develop? How does thinking take place? And what happens when we age? In the "You create knowledge" section of the exhibition, everyone can discover their own skills at the hands-on stations and, of course, test them directly.

Lively learning and 360-degree adventures
The workshop area invites young researchers to tinker and experiment. For example, they can learn how to use pipettes and test tubes and determine the acidity of a liquid using red cabbage juice.

The Mini Dome on board offers exciting film adventures: the inflatable 360-degree projection dome gives a first impression of the Science Dome at experimenta in Heilbronn. This offers the public unique moments thanks to a rotating auditorium and a 726 square meter dome. But the Mini Dome on the MS experimenta is also guaranteed to be remembered for a long time to come.

The offer on the ship is particularly aimed at families with children between the ages of four and twelve. During the Kessel Festival, no booking is required during the ship's opening hours on Friday and Saturday. Admission is then free of charge. Please note that there may be waiting times. The number of guests on the ship is limited.

Admission to the MS experimenta is free of charge during the opening hours of the ship for the Kesselfestival, on Friday, 26.06.2026, from 1 pm to 6 pm and on Saturday, 27.06., from 10 am to 7 pm.
