With the Duo Empfindungen

A musical adventure without borders

On Sunday, April 19, 2026 at 5 pm

When the warm timbre of the French horn - often referred to as the "soul of the orchestra" - meets the harmonic richness of the piano, a very special world of sound is created. The combination of horn and piano is a precious rarity in the concert world. The Duo Empfindungen, consisting of pianist Barbara Brusini and horn player Stefano Brusini, invites you on a musical journey. The duo's name is a tribute to the romance "Empfindungen am Meere" by Franz Strauss, the renowned horn virtuoso and father of Richard Strauss.

The opening piece is Beethoven's Sonata op. 17, a milestone in horn literature and an expression of classical perfection of form. In contrast to this is Donizetti's Concertino, which transfers the bel canto style of Italian opera to the horn and demands both vocal qualities and technical virtuosity. Saint-Saëns' Romance op. 67 and Strauss' Empfindungen am Meere immerse the audience in the Romantic period, in which horn and piano merge into a tonal unity. The Sonata op. 7 by Jane Vignery shows the impressionistic richness of color in melody and harmony; it is her only surviving work due to her early death. The final piece is Bozza's En Forêt op. 40, which picks up on the horn's connection to nature with hunting signals and echo effects and is virtuosically complemented by the piano.

Stefano Brusini is a horn player who grew up in a family of musicians and won several national and international competitions in Italy and Slovenia at a young age. In 2016, he completed his Bachelor's degree at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, followed by a Master's degree, which he completed in 2025. He has won several auditions for temporary contracts and plays as a substitute in large orchestras.

Barbara Brusini is a pianist and also grew up in a family of musicians and achieved her first successes at Jugend musiziert. She graduated from the vocational school for music in Krumbach in 2018 as a state-certified ensemble leader in the field of classical music. She also regularly works as a substitute in a Munich orchestra. In addition to her artistic activities, Barbara Brusini works as a freelance piano teacher.
