The 1979 revolution marked the beginning of a life under increasing control for women in Iran: freedoms disappeared overnight, public life was reorganized and the private sphere was placed under suspicion. Farahnaz Sharifi, born shortly after the upheaval, combines private Super 8 footage of her family with anonymous found footage from past decades. Images of people dancing, women singing - memories of a freer world, secretly discarded by the roadside and recovered by strangers. Photographs from the present tell of hidden celebrations, vanished spaces, memories that are also disappearing due to dementia, inspiring new contacts in exile, and finally of the protests against the veil, the burning of symbols. An archive of resistance emerges despite all attempts to destroy memory, a personal chronicle in which the private always remains political.
