Anti-Semitism is back and has never been gone since the Nazi era.
On campus, on social media, on the street - since October 7, 2023, anti-Semitic codes have once again been seen openly everywhere. A group of young students from Cologne and NRW - Jewish and non-Jewish - also feel at the mercy of its omnipresence. They decide to confront questions that touch the core of their identity and sometimes really hurt: Where and when did I first experience anti-Semitism? How did I react? How did my own family experience National Socialism and the World War and was it talked about in our home? Did I ask enough questions? What do I say to my fellow students? And: Can we still manage to prevent old patterns of hatred from being unleashed again in Europe?
What does all this actually have to do with me, 80 years after the war?
Svetlana Fourer addresses these important questions with the Junges Theater Köln and a group of young students.
