If you set off at sunset and keep going straight ahead, further and further into the Finnish forest, over hill and dale, you will come across NIGHTBORN where the night is deepest and the woods darkest. Hanna Bergholm's second directorial effort is carved from the same gnarled wood as her debut HATCHING. A bloody body horror so feminine and physical and creaky that its powerful atmosphere immediately captivates us.

What lurks around an old hut, where a young couple flees from the stress of the big city, is the horror of old fairy tales and legends. The fact that the two main characters, Seidi Haarla and HARRY POTTER star Rupert Grint, look a bit like trolls themselves soon makes sense once their baby is born. Hell hath no fury like a mother howling at the moon.
