Dorothee Merkel reads from Stuart Turton's The Last Murder at the End of the World (translated from the English by Dorothee Merkel)

The beginning of the German translation of Stuart Turton's novel The Last Murder at the End of the World will be read.

A mysterious fog has destroyed the earth and all but wiped out humanity. Only a small group of survivors have managed to save themselves on a remote Greek island, which has so far been spared from the fog thanks to a complicated defense system. But the ambition of a scientist sets events in motion that threaten to destroy even this last bastion. After everyone's memories have been wiped, an investigator has 107 hours to solve a murder and prevent the extinction of humanity.

After The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle and Death and the Dark Sea, this is the third novel by Stuart Turton, who works as a freelance travel journalist and lives in London with his wife and daughter. Dorothee Merkel lives as a freelance translator in Cologne and in the Eifel region. Her translations from English include works by Edgar Allen Poe, John Banville, John Lanchester and Monica Ali.
