It's the summer of 2001, a boarding school in the Highlands, prom. Hanna from Berlin and Scotsman Neil make a promise of friendship: they will always offer each other shelter. As a pledge for the pact, Neil keeps an emergency suitcase from Hanna and she takes his with her to Berlin. She soon begins to suspect that, as well as her toothbrush and favorite dress, her heart may have remained in Scotland. But then life strikes: They see each other too rarely, the suitcase goes from being a destination of longing to a distant comfort and finally an anecdote. Until one stands on the doorstep of the other ...
