[Off-ICMC] Konzert: Florentin Ginot – Disturbance

In the organizer's words:

"Disturbance" is an audiovisual solo performance at the interface of concert, video art and theater. With double bass and analog synthesizers, Florentin Ginot invites you to join him on a nocturnal foray. Memory and the present meet ghostly glitches and pulsating electronic rhythms.

Florentin Ginot juxtaposes double bass and analog synthesizers, opens up his sonic instruments and creates a space that is shaped by the allegorical universe of German filmmaker Janet Sinica.

Disturbance is also the desire to share the mental wanderings of a camera that questions our human loneliness. In one night, several mute figures emerge: strange, old-looking figures that meet and come to life through the performer's voice.

The visual and aural impressions lead back to a vibrating, almost healing experience. Parasites, glitches and bugs form a strange yet familiar language - a space in which the acceptance of error becomes a path to be explored together, an invitation to engage in one's own wandering.

In a shimmer of memories, ghostly musical fragments meet the kinetic clatter of electronics.

About Florentin Ginot

Florentin G inot took his first cello lessons at the age of 8 and discovered his interest in the double bass at the age of 9. For him, the physical relationship between the musician and his instrument is of great importance, which is expressed in the fact that the double bass, due to its size, the low frequencies and the resistance of the strings, requires intense energy from the musician in order to create a resonance: "Working with the double bass is a never-ending research process that deals with the resonances and the natural sounds of the instrument. To play the double bass, you need a relationship with the instrument. A relationship between my body, the double bass and my hands." is an acclaimed multi-instrumentalist and composer. A remarkable soloist and one of the leading interpreters of contemporary music, he is constantly dedicated to pushing the boundaries of genres and media in his art. Ginot collaboratively creates hybrid projects between contemporary music, electronic music and worldwide traditions.
