ON FILM LAB presents "TEMPLE ROAD" by Josefine Rauch

In the organizer's words:

Vernissage: 26.2.26, 7 pm
Finissage: 24.4.26, 7 pm

In an industrial estate on the outskirts of Frankfurt am Main lies a place that is quietly transformed at weekends: Temporary spaces of spiritual practice are created between workshops, office buildings and a large butcher's shop. The exhibition Temple Road by photographer Josefine Rauch documents this barely visible parallel world and also opens the new ON FILM LAB exhibition series.

The artistic-documentary photo series is dedicated to the diverse religious communities in the Fechenheim industrial estate, which use empty industrial halls for prayers, weddings and communal celebrations. Across ethnic, cultural and religious boundaries, numerous communities from the entire Rhine-Main region gather here. Away from the public eye, protected spaces are created which - far from central religious buildings - allow anonymity and freedom for community life. Created with a sensitive, restrained view and exclusively on analog film material, Temple Road makes visible how diasporic religious practice finds its place in the urban periphery: improvised, communal and mostly unnoticed by mainstream society. The series deals with questions of belonging, perception and the use of urban space.

ON FILM LAB
The exhibition also marks the start of a new series by ON FILM LAB, which has established itself as a central location for analog photography, artistic presentation and sustainable networking in the Rhine-Main region and beyond for over four years. The format is inspired in part by the ongoing interview series "Why on film?" on onfilmlab.de, in which contemporary photographers provide insights into their working methods and create long-term connections within the photography scene. With the new exhibition series, ON FILM LAB is further expanding this approach and creating a space for analog practice, exchange and visibility.
