An unexpected inheritance brings four distant relatives together in an abandoned country house in Normandy, where they discover their mysterious family history. In 1895, her ancestor Adèle sets off for Paris at the age of 21 to search for her mother. She experiences a city on the verge of modernity, the advance of photography and the beginnings of impressionist painting. As her descendants follow in the footsteps of this extraordinary woman, they not only uncover Adèle's unique story, but also find the path to a future of their own together.
