Open Air Cinema: LA HAINE (30th Anniversary) (OmU)**
It's been going well so far. It's some morning in some concrete ghetto in some Parisian banlieue. After a night of violence between the police and a group of youths, the atmosphere is extremely tense. A 16-year-old is struggling with death after being brutally beaten up during an interrogation. His friends Vinz (Vincent Cassel), Saïd (Saïd Taghmaoui) and Hubert (Hubert Koundé) are driven by hatred of the system and vow revenge if their friend does not survive. And time is ticking like a bomb on this day that will change their lives. 30 years after its premiere, LA HAINE has lost none of its explosive power and is more topical than ever in its relentless criticism of social inequality, racism and police violence. A cinematic outburst of rage that shaped generations and whose influence continues to this day. Mathieu Kassovitz, who was only 27 at the time, was awarded the prize for best director for LA HAINE at the Cannes Film Festival, while the leading actors Vincent Cassel, Saïd Taghmaoui and Hubert Koundé laid the foundations for great careers with their impressive performances.
