Since the occupation of the building at Kartäuserwall 18 in 1980, people have been living and working here. After many years of negotiations with the city of Cologne, our presence was legalized. Since then, various social trades have taken root here. Bicycles are repaired, furniture is restored, political work is carried out, art is created, culture is shaped and free spaces are made possible.

Five years ago, an attempt was made to terminate the social trades, which was fortunately fended off. Since then, the trades have achieved absurdly high rent increases and the three-year funding from the City of Cologne has been canceled without replacement, which has brought all trades to the brink of their existence.

On September 13, we would like to celebrate with you that we are still part of Cologne's Südstadt - and will remain so. That's why we're opening our doors to you. All neighbors, friends, supporters, sponsors and acquaintances are cordially invited to get to know the diverse work of the social trades.
