ORPHEUS UND EURYDIKE

Orpheus and Eurydice - by Christoph W. Gluck. This dance opera by Pina Bausch is one of the most important signature works of dance theater legend Pina Bausch. The dramaturgy follows the ancient myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. In Pina Bausch's interpretation of Gluck's late baroque dance opera, dancers and singers are equally involved in the action on stage. While the orchestra and chorus make music in the pit, a deeply human love drama unfolds on stage. The characters Orpheus, Eurydice and Cupid are each embodied twice, through dance and song, whereby emotional states and inner conflicts overlap in a multi-layered way.
