Duo Pascal and Mar.gerrit / Action Painting Performance & Artists

Since 2023, the artist duo Pascal and MarGerrit have been offering an artistic platform to connect people from different social and cultural contexts and create artistic spaces for negotiating identity and perception. In "ADHD is power" (2023) and "OUT OF LINE" (2024), twenty neurodivergent, disabled and non-disabled artists took an interdisciplinary stance on the topics of exclusion, limitation and non-linear life paths.

OUT OF LINE brings together artists from various art disciplines who creatively explore non-linear life paths, including breaks and deviations.
and deviations. How do we move in the field of tension between uncertainty and courage, with the longing for belonging and at the same time the expression of
individuality? Using artistic means, the audience is invited to rethink their own perspective on normative and non-normative structures. How does the inherent logic of individual perception negotiate the experience of the world between chaos and order?

SAVE THE DATE! OUT OF LINE - on 18 Oct. 25 the DUO Pascal and Mar.Gerrit invite you to the vernissage at the Cologne Künstler:innen Theater from 7 pm. With exhibits from their action painting performances, they will create a spatial installation that translates atypical ways of thinking into visual structures. They welcome guest artist Evdokia Michailidou and open an artist talk afterwards.

Video-Audio-Installation about - The Dangers of Hybrid Fascism-
The video-sound-poetry installation addresses the exclusion and endangerment of mentally ill people. The themes of stigmatization and social ignorance are described in the text and the performative visualization as the imagination and imagery of perceptions and developed using fragmenting techniques. In part, they reflect the inner state of those affected and call for a rethink in the public approach to mental illness. The installation warns urgently of the growing danger posed by fascist-right-wing populist movements that dehumanize, pathologize and marginalize mentally ill people. The work sees itself as artistic resistance to ideologies that defame and exploit diversity and vulnerability as weakness.

After experiencing the installation, viewers are invited to ask questions and exchange ideas in the artist talk. This dialogical space offers the opportunity to show how art can contribute to making mental illness visible and removing the taboo surrounding it. The discussion can also share personal impressions, explain the background to the creation of the work and encourage joint reflection on social responsibility.
