A dream

Beasts & Bodies is dedicated to what we cannot carry alone. Between the fear

of loss of control and the longing for the unknown, new places unfold in the

in-between. Riding through familiar and distant spaces, bodies reposition themselves,

shift and take off. A piece that defies gravity - in an atmosphere of neon circus

of neon circus and fairground glitch.

With their unmistakable signature between contemporary dance and acrobatics, Overhead Project

Overhead Project creates an impressive performance about closeness, risk and what can happen

can arise when we expose ourselves to each other.

Beasts & Bodies is the first part of the "Transgressing bodies" series in which the

company Overhead Project has been exploring border crossings for several years.

Beasts have always been part of our imagination. They permeate myths, narratives

and shape pop and entertainment culture - in countless guises. But it is only in our

imagination do they unfold their true greatness. They embody the uncontrollable - the untamed

that frightens and fascinates us at the same time. We fear them and yet feel

irresistibly attracted to them. Our innermost selves are reflected in their appearance:

Fears and deep longings. They represent what we believe we can control -

instinctuality, impulsiveness, raw power - and yet which we secretly long for.

The bestial transcends boundaries - temporal, cultural and physical. It is

unruly and defies fixed categories. The beast is neither animal nor human

or machine - possibly even incorporeal. Since time immemorial, beasts have exerted an unbroken

fascination for us - perhaps because we never quite know where they end and we begin.

COMPAGNY

The Cologne-based company stands for performances on the border between contemporary circus and dance

circus and dance - which, through the interplay of acrobats and dancers, open up

open up different perspectives on the human body. The company has received

received a number of international awards and choreography prizes for their work,

including the Tabori Award from the Fonds Darstellende Künste in 2022.
