This workshop is aimed exclusively at FLINTA* people.
Instructor: lil.lili & neon.black.cat
Have you always wanted to know how a synthesizer works or would you like to try out a new instrument? This workshop will give you a practical insight into the world of electronic music production. Together with lil.lili and neon.black.cat, you will explore the basics of sound synthesis using modular synthesizers and learn how to use drum machines and samplers. We will work with VCV RACK, a free software that best emulates Eurorack on the computer, from the simple synth voice, to drum synthesis, to the most complex patches as they also work in the "real" world.
The focus is on getting to grips with synths in an informal way, gaining initial experience or consolidating existing knowledge. The workshop offers a safe space in which there are no wrong questions and experimentation is expressly encouraged. No previous knowledge is required - just curiosity and fun with sound!
Please bring along: Headphones with mini jack (3.5 mm) and a laptop or tablet with free VCV RACK 2 software
If not possible, please contact us.
Snacks and drinks will be provided.
Max. Participants: 12
Ever since Lili aka. lil.lili (she/you) came into contact with modular synthesizers 5 years ago, she has been totally in love. For the mother of three, making music and experimenting with her modular system is a liberating balance to everyday life and like a noisy meditation. She has been playing as a live act in clubs and at festivals across Germany for almost 3 years. She gave her first workshop at the end of 2024. Her goal is to introduce other FLINTAs to the world of synthesizers and to take away their fear of the supposedly "dreaded" technology.
Line aka Neon.Black.Cat (she/you) is actually a designer by profession, but has always been connected to music. Having started out in punk rock bands, she has now moved on to synthesizers and drum machines, with which she has been performing live for two years and, together with other people, has founded the collective Die Patcherei, with whom she regularly plays synth jams in Bremen. With the FLINTA* collective Mausalarm, she has been giving synthesizer and drum machine workshops since 2024, trying to make it easier for young people in particular to get started in this supposed "male domain"
