Peer Gynt, the so-called Nordic "Faust" is a true theater classic! It contains everything that makes theater what only theater can be:
A long, crazy life is condensed, narrated and brought to life. Places and worlds - from Norway to Africa - are imagined. Theater as a concave mirror of fate.

Henrik Ibsen describes the departure of the peasant boy Peer Gynt into the world and his search for love and adventure.

Philip Tiedemann has summarized the story of Peer Gynt in 10 scenes:

Scene 1: Peer, the farmer's son, argues with his widowed mother about his tendency to tell tall tales.

Scene 2: Peer meets Solveig at a wedding in a neighboring village - he kidnaps the bride.

Scene 3: Peer flees to the mountains and encounters the troll king, he impregnates his daughter and leaves her behind.

Scene 4: Peer fights with the Great Crooked Man, Solveig comes to him, but also the mother of his child.

Scene 5: Peer visits his mother, she dies.

Scene 6: Peer moves on and meets useful people in the world.

Scene 7: Peer is stranded in the desert with the Sphinx and then in the madhouse.

Scene 8: Peer crosses the sea, a storm arises and he rescues himself from distress at sea.

Scene 9: Peer encounters the Button Moulder and has to think about his life.

Scene 10: Peer returns home, where Solveig has been waiting for him.

And Peter Bause combines this search for the world and the self with his own rich (stage) life as the retrospective of an old player. Theater off the cuff, with the power of the imagination of language.
