In three chapters, Brazilian director Kleber Mendonça Filho (THE SECRET AGENT) tells of his love for his hometown of Recife, his home and its cinemas. As a young man, he got to know the city's movie palaces as places of dreams, progress and, above all, community. Today, the cityscape has changed, but its ghosts live on.

Through film clips and archive footage, a map of personal memories and collective experiences emerges. A melancholy, humorous and playful journey through time, architecture and the places that shape us forever.
