An immersive journey in the Friedenskirche, Leipzig Gohlis
Premiere on December 03, 2025
From December 3, 2025, the Friedenskirche in Leipzig Gohlis will be transformed into a monumental experience of light, sound and emotion. With ENLIGHTENMENT, the Zurich-based artist collective PROJEKTIL is bringing an immersive production to Germany that combines music, architecture and visual art in a unique way. The sacred space becomes the stage for an audiovisual poetry in which projections, compositions and spatial perception merge into an intense overall experience.
Vivaldi in a new dimension
The focus is on a contemporary interpretation of Vivaldi's "Four Seasons". The well-known works were rearranged and recorded especially for ENLIGHTENMENT in order to translate the baroque sound cosmos into a modern, visual narrative. The interplay of sound and image lends the familiar compositions new depth and topicality. ENLIGHTENMENT is a homage to the cycle of life, told in six chapters: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter form the dramaturgical structure of a journey that deals with development, realization and inner transformation. The sequence of seasons becomes an emotional compass and culminates in a finale that brings together colors, shapes and sounds in a powerful fusion.
Architecture as a projection surface
The Friedenskirche church in the Gohlis district, with its striking neo-Gothic architecture, provides the ideal basis for this expansive light composition. The precise use of mapping technology creates the impression that the space itself is beginning to tell stories. The building fabric is not only illuminated, but activated as part of the artistic expression - a dialog between space, history and the present.
