"Is' without breakfast. Is' also without discussion." - East Berlin singer Ingrid Sommer, known as Sunny, decides independently and freely what happens in her life. She is not prepared to compromise. She tours across the GDR with a band. But great success eludes her. Sunny longs for happiness and recognition. When she defends herself against sexual assault by a bandmate, she is kicked out of the group and replaced by a younger singer. Sunny falls into a deep life crisis...

One of the cult films of DEFA productions. Shot in 1978-80, it was the last feature film produced by Konrad Wolf. The film was not only popular, but also won awards: At the 1980 Berlinale, it won the Silver Bear for Renate Krößner as best actress and the FIPRESCI Film Critics' Award. The soundtrack, which contributed significantly to the film's success, was composed by Günther Fischer and sung by Regine Dobberschütz.
