Rocket

"R Is for Rocket" is the name of the debut LP by the Los Angeles-based quartet Rocket, which will be released on October 3. Former school friends Alithea Tuttle (bass, vocals), Baron Rinzler (guitar), Cooper Ladomade (drums) and Desi Scaglione (guitar) joined forces in 2021 after Tuttle and Scaglione, who have been a couple since high school, wrote songs together and first had the idea for a band. It wasn't long before their friends Rinzler and Cooper joined them. Rocket was formed and, true to their name, the four took off. After a few singles, their first EP "Versions Of You" finally followed in 2023. With just eight songs released, a big dream came true for the young band that summer when they appeared as support for their idols Smashing Pumpkins. The band members, all in their twenties, are strongly inspired by the rock of the 90s, which is reflected not only musically but also in their numerous live shows. The constant gigs have helped Rocket to fine-tune their sound: "All the touring has made the songs into something better," says Tuttle, "because we've played them in front of such different audiences that we've found out what works well and what doesn't". The perfect starting point for working on the first album. Tuttle, who writes lyrics for the band, is also exploring new thematic areas and is now dealing with romantic relationships and their challenges for the first time. The first album single "One Million", for example, is about wanting someone to meet you halfway but not knowing if it will ever happen. Tuttle says this is tied to "the feeling of doing everything you can, going above and beyond for someone and knowing you'd wait a million years for them just to make them realize how important they are to you. It's about learning to cope with the fact that you might love them more and more." A lot can therefore be expected from the upcoming album "R is for Rocket" and shows a sharpened, rapid sound development. With their pop-punk, Rocket deliver wild shows according to the old recipe. R is for Rocket. R stands for snotty. R stands for restless. R stands for (infectious). With hypnotic vocals, driving rhythms and blasting guitars, the quartet creates a jagged sound that makes you nostalgic for the wild 90s. Rocket have found their own signature style and are considered one of the most promising up-and-coming rock bands, not least because of this. In February, the four are coming to Berlin and Cologne for two shows, where you can see their live quality for yourself.
