Of fools and norms - under this auspicious title, the versatile singer-songwriter and cabaret artist Roger Stein presents his new program. With a sharp pen and sensitive voice, Stein takes his audience on a journey
on a journey that illuminates the tension between convention and rebellion, reason and madness. In a humorous homage to the
infinite power of the senseless, Stein demonstrates the ability to break through the mundane and open up new perspectives that exist beyond rational boundaries. The senseless allows us to look at life playfully and with lightness, beyond the pursuit of efficiency and expediency. In this way, connections can be created that remain hidden in the purely logical, opening doors to unexpected
unexpected discoveries. It is a source of inspiration that reminds us that not everything in life has to be measurable or explainable to be valuable. The Fool, unbound by societal expectations, has the freedom to ask questions that others dare not. Through his seeming insouciance and playful nature, he reveals hidden truths and breaks taboos. He sees what most people overlook or ignore. In his apparent foolishness lies a deep wisdom that allows us to gain new perspectives. Von Narren und Normen is an ode to all those who have the courage to be different and question conventions. In his songs, Stein addresses the role of the fool as a mirror of society and the rigid norms that are often regarded as incontrovertible truths. His songs tell stories of freedom and adaptation, of individuality and community, in a time when uncertainty has become a constant companion.
Roger Stein has long since found an artistic home for his songs on Konstantin Wecker's record label, on which he has been releasing his albums since 2013. Questions and doubts are a central theme throughout the program. And so the mischievous song poet asks himself: Is the reality we live in really the only choice? Are we the owners of our own parallel worlds? And is chance even conceivable without a logic constructed by us humans?
