Roller Derby is both the name of a feminist roller skating sport and the namesake for the dream pop duo from Hamburg, whose music bridges the gap between nostalgic 80s sounds and modern indie pop. Their musical inspirations range from the 60s and 80s to current artists such as Angel Olsen, Alvvays and Beach House. Philine Meyer's dreamy vocals float above the warm guitar sounds of Manuel Romero Soria.
Roller Derby have achieved numerous milestones since their formation. These include sold-out concerts in Hamburg, Berlin and London as well as appearances at renowned festivals such as the Reeperbahn Festival, the Appletree Garden Festival and the Dockville Festival. They gained international attention through their participation in showcase festivals such as SXSW in Austin, Texas, and The Great Escape in Brighton.

With'When The Night Comes', Roller Derby present their debut album - a work that radiates and floats, that draws its strength from gentleness and depth. Moses Schneider's production lends the songs an international, yet DIY-like charm. A melancholy, dreamy atmosphere unfolds in the tracks, reminiscent of the best moments of Alvvays, Beach House or Mazzy Star. The music always remains multi-faceted - sometimes gracefully floating, sometimes driving and direct.
