Roller Derby is both the name of a feminist roller skating sport and the namesake for the dream pop duo from Hamburg, whose music bridges the gap between nostalgic 80s sounds and modern indie pop. With 'When The Night Comes', Roller Derby present their debut album - a work that radiates and floats, drawing its strength from gentleness and depth. Moses Schneider's production lends the songs an international, yet DIY-like charm. A melancholy, dreamy atmosphere unfolds in the tracks, reminiscent of the best moments of Alvvays, Beach House or Mazzy Star. The music always remains multi-faceted - sometimes gracefully floating, sometimes driving and direct.
