Rückspiegel Ausstellung: Kaffeekränzchen und Geschichten

In the organizer's words:

Reaview Mirror / Rückspiegel
Stories and developments from Neustadt-Neuschönefeld and the neighboring districts - from the late 1980s to the present day.

We consciously look into the rear-view mirror of history: What comes to light? What images, memories and voices emerge?

The exhibition invites you to tell stories - and to listen. From you: about the changes, experiences and memories of East Leipzig. People from the neighborhood share their experiences, show personal objects, photos and documents. In small coffee rounds, we create space for exchange and shared memories.

We travel back to the upheaval of the late 1980s, when people who helped shape the protests and the Peaceful Revolution in Leipzig lived in Neustadt-Neuschönefeld. Since then, the district has changed dramatically - in phases, layers and waves. Today, places like Volkmarsdorf and Neustadt-Neuschönefeld are exemplary for issues such as migration, social inequality, displacement and cultural diversity - but also for living neighborhoods, creativity and change.

We ask: What has changed, what has remained? Which stories do we want to preserve - beautiful, sad, contradictory?

Our storytellers are also historians of their own lives. We are all contemporary witnesses - if we allow ourselves to look in the rear-view mirror.

As part of the exhibition, we have a special exhibition supervision on Saturday, November 29. Not only can the works be viewed - we also invite you to join us for a coffee party and an exchange of stories. We look forward to seeing you there!
