Capturing the true feeling of a character, a story or the "blues" is no easy task. In order for the listener to be convinced and carried away by such a feeling, it must be presented as authentically and emotionally as possible, but Rufus Coates and Jess Smith manage this effortlessly. Rufus Coates and Jess Smith are two singer-songwriters who are masters of emotive storytelling. Each song takes the listener on a journey.

Stories are told through raw vocals accompanied by soothing, warm guitar tones and soundscapes. Between the vocals and the duo's overall style, there are stylistic elements of artists such as Leonard Cohen and Nick Cave.
