SAMBA TRAORÉ
D: Idrissa Ouedraogo, Burkina Faso/South Africa/FR 1993, OmeU/OmdtU | DCP | 86 min
During a robbery at a petrol station in the city, one of the accomplices is shot dead. The other, SAMBA TRAORÉ, flees with the loot: a suitcase full of banknotes. After years of absence, he returns to his home village. Life there has moved on, and Saratou is just as beautiful as he remembers. Director Idrissa Ouedraogo paints the portrait of a man who is haunted by his past and tries to build a new life for himself. But the mistakes of the past never remain hidden for long. This feature film won the Silver Bear at the 1993 Berlinale.
