Sanat Ensemble: Baha und die wilden 70er

A musical by Nedim Hazar

With 25 actors on stage - actors, musicians, contemporary witnesses and a women's choir instead of a Greek choir - the Sanat Ensemble sheds light on an almost forgotten chapter of German history. In 1973, over one hundred thousand guest workers in more than three hundred locations went on "wildcat" strikes to demand equal pay for equal work. At Ford in Cologne, around ten thousand strikers occupied the plant for five days. At night, they "played music, sang, danced and told stories". The so-called "Turkish strike" in Cologne ended violently, but the speaker Baha Targün became a legend.
