Classical music

The saxophone duo MAE consists of saxophonists Mari Ángeles del Valle Casado from Spain and Eva Kotar from Slovenia. Both came to Cologne in 2015 to study classical saxophone with Professor Daniel Gauthier at the Cologne University of Music and Dance.

Mari Ángeles and Eva are active both as soloists and chamber musicians. They are also members of the Eternum Saxophone Quartet, which performs throughout Europe and has already played at renowned venues such as the Beethovenhaus Bonn, the Cologne and Duisburg Philharmonics and the Konzerthaus Berlin.

In their concert program, they explore the tonal possibilities of the saxophone in the classical repertoire, from arrangements to contemporary music. In doing so, they present the versatility of the instrument and make the warm sound of their saxophones shine in the rooms of the Van der Grinten Gallery, in the midst of the exhibition of Elger Esser's latest works.
