Schreng Schreng & LaLa (acoustic punk)

The heart in the right place, the guitar around the thick neck and the microphone in front of the big mouth: Schreng Schreng & La La don't have many chords, but a lot to say. Sometimes with furious noise against aluminum cap packs, sometimes with lyrical finesse against assholes who don't like it when men kiss men on the bus. But don't worry, they can also talk nonsense. And talk: Concerts usually consist of equal parts half-rehearsed music and improvised situation comedy.

The duo with the strange name is actually not a band at all, but a friendship. It began in 2007 in a shared flat in Düsseldorf. First they share beer and opinions, then core skills: One can Schreng Schreng with his instrument, the other La La with his voice - enough said. Donkey Jörkk and his lawyer Lasse have recorded two EPs and three albums, the last with a very special goal. "Projekt 82" was supposed to surpass the chart success of Hamburg's so-what-all-star band Trixsi (also with Jörkk on the mic) - and it did: 58th place. How did it get that far?

Stupid question - the reasons are obvious: their songs may seem simple, but they are far too good and clever not to be celebrated. And they are performed by two people who love what they do and who they do it with. Quite rightly, after almost 200 concerts, word is slowly but surely getting around. Those who have already shared the audience with Turbostaat, Donots, Pascow and Tocotronic and are repeatedly invited to festivals such as Angst Macht Keinen Lärm, Orange Blossom Special or Burg Herzberg can't do too much wrong. But they can do a lot right. Whether donkey and lawyer are assigned the main stage or the narrow space right next to the bar: It doesn't matter - Schreng Schreng & La La are ready for big emotions and would rather be anywhere but there. With themselves. With us. With devotion. Whether with pants or without, that remains to be seen.
