‚Sichtbar. Verknüpft. Frei.‘

In the organizer's words:

"It's about making yourself visible - with all consistency"

Katharina Sieverding

100 years of GEDOK stands for female creativity and 100 years of art by women. It is celebrating its anniversary with the cooperation project Visible. Linked. Free. at three exhibition venues in Munich with an interdisciplinary program. GEDOK consists of 23 regional groups throughout Germany.

The largest association of women artists in Europe has always been committed to the visibility, networking, solidarity and support of women artists. Today, women are better represented in institutions, yet they still earn significantly less than men and are underrepresented in museums and collections, in galleries, but also in areas such as magazines, textbooks and publishing houses. What has actually changed in 100 years and how freely and independently do women artists work today?

30 female artists from Munich and all over Germany are showing current positions that deal with these questions artistically in painting, sculpture and multimedia through to jewelry and textile works. Three exhibition venues invite visitors to engage in new explorations, touching discoveries and joint discussions.

A century of GEDOK - and we're only just getting started.

The exhibitions at DG Kunstraum and MaximiliansForum + Ö are curated by Annika Schoemann. The exhibition in the galerieGEDOKmuc by Janina Totzauer.
