1. where does the Skate by Night in Hanover start?

Traditionally, Skate by Night starts with a warm-up from 18:30 at Klagesmarkt. This is also the start and finish point.

Which route will be skated?

There are two laps of Familiy Night A; the first goes around the city center and the second circles the List.

1st lap (approx. 6 km), 20:00-20:45:

Start: Am Klagesmarkt, Otto-Brenner-Straße, Brühlstraße,. Leibnizufer, Friederikenplatz, Lavesallee, U-turn at Gustav-Bratke-Allee, Lavesallee, Friederikenplatz, Friedrichswall, Aegidientorplatz, Schiffgraben, Berliner Allee, Raschplatzhochstraße, Hamburger Allee, Celler Straße

Break: Am Klagesmarkt

2nd round (approx. 14.5 km), 21:00-22:30:

2. what are the costs for the Skate by Night in Hanover?

A starter wristband can be purchased on site for three euros. Inline skates can be rented for five euros. Unfortunately, protectors and helmets cannot be hired.

3. what should I pay particular attention to at Skate by Night in Hanover?

• slow skaters to the front
• Skaters should skate on the road and not use the footpaths to overtake

Background: The field stretches out, the skaters behind have to catch up and therefore skate faster. A steady pace is skated at the front. In this way, the slow skaters at the front guarantee a train of constant length. The footpaths and the left-hand side of the road are needed for the stewards so that they can catch up again at the front.

4. are there any other safety rules at Skate by Night in Hanover?

Yes, there are lots of safety instructions to ensure that the evening party is fun for everyone:

• Wearing protective equipment including helmets is strongly recommended
• Children under the age of 12 must wear full protective equipment
• Safe skating, braking, consideration and a sufficient level of fitness are basic requirements for participation
• Emergency vehicles - whether police, fire department, ambulance or civilian - must be able to pass at all times
• Carrying glass bottles is prohibited
• Alcoholized persons are not allowed to participate
• No dogs may be carried
• Overtaking the lead vehicle and falling behind the tail vehicle is not permitted
• The instructions of the police and stewards must always be followed
• The right-hand driving rule applies, not all lanes are always closed (watch out for oncoming traffic!)
• Please keep a lane free for stewards on the left-hand side of the road
• Participants are not permitted to use footpaths or cycle paths
• The average route length is approx. 20 km and it can get dark in places, please take lighting with you (flashlight, helmet light, bike light)
• Participation in the event is exclusively at your own risk
• During the course of the route, the speed may be reduced for a short time. This is necessary to keep the train closed and to give the stewards the opportunity to get back to the front of the train.
